1) Study abroad overview

Hi, I’m Fanghua Jiang. I came to France in 2021 for my final year of high school, adapting to a new curriculum, language, and classroom rhythm. After three years of effort, I scored 15.72/20 on the French Baccalaureate.

After graduation I chose to stay in France and now study Economics & Management (Économie et Gestion) at Université Paris Nanterre. The major helps me understand how companies operate and how the economy functions, clarifying the career paths I want to explore.

Beyond class, I join student clubs to hear diverse perspectives and seek internships or part-time roles during breaks, linking classroom theory with the real world.

2) What studying in France taught me

I feel fortunate to study in France. This journey showed me what independence really means: caring for myself, planning time, and managing emotions even when family isn’t nearby.

Learning here gradually built my confidence. Whether speaking up in class or communicating with strangers at work, I can feel my growth. When facing the unknown, I remind myself to stay open and inclusive because the world is broader than we imagine.

“Living abroad alone taught me that as long as I take the first step, challenges can be solved. This will remain one of my most precious growth memories.”

3) Tips for future students

1. Learn independence and face challenges. Language, culture, and lifestyle can be stressful, but with a positive mindset and the courage to seek help, you’ll find your rhythm step by step.

2. Communicate with teachers and classmates. Share ideas and join discussions. It boosts French skills and helps you integrate into classes and social life to access more resources and collaboration.

3. Go beyond campus. France’s culture, travel experiences, and community life are all part of growth. Exploring cities or joining volunteer work will spark inspiration and experience for the future.

4) Closing thoughts

Looking back on these years in France, I believe even more in independence and constant exploration. Each attempt quietly shapes a braver version of myself and helps me cherish the present.
