Core curriculum in Première

These courses continue to build the academic foundation while specialties add depth. Continuous assessment scores feed directly into the BAC.

Language & Humanities

  • French literature and writing (preparation for EAF oral/written).
  • History-Geography with critical reading and source analysis.
  • Two modern languages (LVA/LVB), often English + another European language.

Science & Methodology

  • Scientific Teaching (math + experimental mindset for non-STEM specialties).
  • Physical Education and Citizenship education modules.
  • Optional arts, Latin/Greek, or advanced math depending on school.

Choosing two specialties

Pick specialties that support the intended Parcoursup major. Most students keep two into Terminale; dropping one changes coefficients.

STEM track

Math + Physics-Chemistry or Math + Engineering Sciences. Suits engineering, computer science, data, and architecture.

Tip: add optional expert math if aiming for selective CPGE/Prépa.

Biology/Health

Life & Earth Sciences + Math or Physics-Chemistry. Aligns with health, pharmacy, agronomy, and food science.

Keep lab reports and projects organized for Parcoursup portfolios.

Economics & Business

Economics & Social Sciences + Math. Fits business schools, finance, economics, and management programs.

Strengthen statistics modules and case studies for interviews.

Humanities & Social Sciences

History-Geopolitics + Humanities/Literature/Philosophy. Good for law, IR, public policy, languages, and journalism.

Core courses

~16–18 hours/week covering French, History-Geography, two languages, PE, Scientific Teaching, and civic education.

Two specialties

~12 hours/week (6h each). Schools may add workshops or lab time to support projects counted toward continuous assessment.

Options
